Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 about Noel Nadeau Name: Noel Nadeau Event: Baptême (Baptism) Baptism Year: 1844 Baptism Location: Deschaillons, Québec (Quebec)
Record is in French but her is what I can make out.
December 25, 1844 in this Parish, the baptism of Noel, born the same day, of legitimate marriage of Jean Nadeau, cultivator and of Anastasie Amil of this Parish. Sponsors David Amil and .........Brisson.
** I cannot read the Brisson woman's first name.
Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 about Noel Nadeau Name: Noel Nadeau Spouse: Marie paillant dit St Auge [Marie Paillant Dit St Onge] Event: Mariage (Marriage) Marriage Year: 1871 Marriage Location: Deschaillons, Québec (Quebec)
June 30, 1871 after publication of three banns, marriage of Noel Nadeau, journalier, major son of Jean Nadeau and Anastasie Hamel of this Parish on the first part and Marie Paillant dit St. Auge, major daughter of Leboire Paillant dit St. Auge and Clarance Lagasse also of this Parish on the other part. Nuptials in the presence of Jean Nadeau, father of the spouse and Leboire Paillant dit St. Auge, father of the spouse.
** Paillant dit St. Auge may be St. Onze - not sure from image. Also not sure of Leboire and Clarance names.
From the 1871 census that Kathleen gave you I see siblings of Noel are Ovide, Zephir, Jean, Leude, Exilda so I looked for their baptisms to confirm Anastasia's surname although I see there is an Esther HAMEL living with the family and that looks like a good possibility for Anastasia's name.
Ovide's baptism shows mother as Anastasie HAMIL
Zephirin shows mother as Anastasia HAMEL
Jean shows mother as Anastasia AMEL(one sponsor is Esther HAMEL)
Exilda shows mother as Anastasia AMEL
there is also a baptism for a Melanie NADEAU in 1851 with mother Anastasia AMEL - father Jean Nadeau
Leudeshows mother as Anastasia HAMEL
so I think you can be pretty confident that Anastasia was AMEL or HAMEL
Anastasie HAMEL died 1882, age 67 years. She is shown as wife of Jean Nadeau. Present at her burial were children Jean, Ovide, and Eluce.
Jean NADEAU died 1884, widower of Eustosie HAMEL.
*** so another spelling for Anastasia
I have not been able to find the marriage for Anastasia and Jean.
The Esther Hamel living with them in 1871 seems to be (from baptisms) daughter of David HAMEL and Judithe Maillot
Esther married in 1883 to she is shown as daughter of the deceased David Hamel and Deceased Judith Mailhot
Jean Nadeau was present at her marriage.
I had thought that Esther was likely a niece of Anastasia but now I think it likely she was a sister as David and Judith married in 1808.
I think I found baptism of Anastasia - listed as MarieAstapeHAMEL she was born 1814, daughter of David Hamel and Judith Maillot so that matches with what I thought.
