Evelyn Estelle (Poirier) Cooke COOKE Evelyn Estelle (nee Poirier) Passed peacefully at Cedarview Lodge, comforted by her loving daughters, on January 21st, 2008 in her 92nd year. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Charles Edward (Ted) in 1995 and by her son, David and daughter-in-law Georgia in 1989. Evelyn is the last surviving member of the Poirier family headed by Napoleon (1946) and Ada (1974) and siblings Delia, Jeanette, Eldege, Raymond and Paul. Evelyn was born in St. Albert, AB in 1916. She grew up in St. Albert, AB, Blaine, WA, and Vancouver. Prior to her marriage in 1945 Evelyn worked in the hairdressing industry. She moved to North Vancouver in 1951 with her husband and young family. Evelyn remained in the family home until her move to Cedarview Lodge in 2003. Evelyn was a long-time parishioner of Holy Trinity Church, and more recently attended St. Stephen's Church. She was a longtime member of North Shore Winter Club where she curled well into her 85th year. Evelyn is survived by and will be dearly missed by her daughters and their families: Lynda and Bruce MacNicol (Quesnel), Janice and Bill Gee (Vernon), Elaine and Graham Thody (North Vancouver), Valerie and Kelly Collins (Whitehorse) Diana Reibin-Cooke (Gibsons); 18 grandchildren, their spouses and 9 great-grandchildren: David and Doreen MacNicol (Christopher), Brent and Karen MacNicol, (Tara and Lianna), Melanie and Jamie Baker, Shannon MacNicol, Carolyn and Mark Kruger, (Brandon, Sarah and Kyle), Elaine and Thomas Bohn, (Owen and Noah), Andrea and Sam Ferguson, Megan Gee and Francisco Videla (Mikaela), Kristine and Neal Van Beers, Geoffrey Thody, Gillian Thody, Derek Thody, Nicole Collins, Ryan Collins, Glenn Cooke, Falyn Cooke and Brittany Cooke and David Hughes. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews on the Poirier side. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff at Cedarview Lodge and Mom's companions from We Care for their loving care and attention over the past five years. Resurrection Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 29th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 1360 East 24th, North Vancouver, BC.
