Mewburn, Dr. Frank Hamilton M.D. C.M. Dr. Mewburn arrived in Lethbridge in 1883. He was born in 1858 at Drummondville, Ontario and died in 1929 at Edmonton, Alberta. He was married in 1887 to Louise Augustine Nelson. Their children were: Frank, Helen and Arthur. Frank served as a Medical Officer in the North West Rebellion and was decorated. He returned to McGill University to complete his M.C. and C.M. He served in several hospitals. In 1885 he served the N. W. M. P. and the N.W. Coal and Irrigation Company at Lethbridge, Alberta as well, he was medical officer for Galt Hospital. He was appointed surgeon for the N.W.M.P. and in 1911 was Honorable Surgeon. He was the medical officer during the construction of the Crowsnest line of the C.P.R. He was Mayor of Lethbridge for two years.
There is a Veterans hospital named for him here in Edmonton. Both the Alberta Genealogical Society and the Provincial Archives of Alberta, likely have further informatin on both Col. Mewburn and his family.
