[[ Alfred died in St Joseph's Hospital, Victoria, Vancouver Island, British Columbia and buried Queen's Park Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta.
Alfred Irwin DePew went to Canada from Minnesota with his first wife and a friend just as the First World War was breaking out. The Immigration Department gave them twentyfour hours to either stay in Canada or go back to the USA. Unknown what his wife's name wasand they had no children. Alfred Irvin (Irvin as he was known) homesteaded three times north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at Thorhild, Legal and Whitecourt. He was in the process of adopting a little girl named Grace when his wife was killed with a runaway team of horses in 1935. The adoption was called off, Irvin burned down the small log cabin and barn and abandoned the place. He drove his herd of twenty cattle south and east looking for someone to buy them and a place to work for room and board for the winter. He sold the cattle to a farmer and his wife a few miles east of Fort Saskatchewan. Harriet and Paul Dandridge (who came from Oxford, England in 1907). Then Alfred "Irvin" DePew worked for farmer Dadndridge over the winter then ran away with the Dandridge's daughter Elsie Edith May Dandridge,in the spring of 1936 ]]
