I found anothe announcement in my great grandmother's scrapbook, not sure if related, or frinds. The marriage announcements goes as follows:
The wedding of two well known residents of North Brandon took place on Wednesday afternoon in the Zion Church at 5 o'clok, Nov.28th. When the Rev. Mr. McKay united in marriage Miss Alice Beatrice Powers, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Powers, to Mr. Robert James Johnson, third son of the late Wm. Johnston, one of the earliest pioneers of the Brandon Hills district. The bride was handsomely gowned in white silk, wearing the usual bridal ceil and orange blossons, carrying a bouquet of bridal roses and maidenhair fern, and was given away by her father. Miss Violet Powers sister of the bride acted as bridesmaid, while the groom was supported by his brother Mr. Geo. Johnston. Two little sisters of the bride Verta and Laura, with Eva and Lena Roddick, neices of the groom made charming flower girls, each carrying a bouquet of Chrysanthemums. Miss Chesty of Alexander, presided at the organ and rendered the usual wedding march. At the close of the ceremony, the wedding party amid showers of rice, drove to the home of the brides parents, where a sumptuous dinner was served, to about sixty invited guests. The remainder of the evening was spent in games and social amusements. About midnight the guests departed wishing the you couple well.
If anyone has any information of this family I would like to hear from you. I believe I did find them in the 1906 Canada Census living in Brandon, Manitoba, Henry L Powers and Elizabeth Maria Reynolds,( married 5 Dec.1883, Brandon, Manitoba, found at Manitoba Vital Stats) In 1906 they had 10 children.
