Hi David, Sorry for the late reply. I did not see your message until February 1 in which I printed it out. You are right it is "Deslauriers". It is misspelled on the department of health form which was next to the marriage certificate which I received in the mail. They were on the same page together that is. Here is information about The Stebbins ancestors who were born and married in Quebec. Louise's Deslauriers and Louis Stebbins’ parents came to the United States in 1854 and they were married in 1861 John (born March 1833) and Aurelia (born May 1834). I do not know who John Deslauriers' parents are though.
I have Louis Stebbins's parents though for which I am putting in now. I got this from Marylin Benfield and she listed his first name as Charles/Alexander Stebenne.Their last name was changed from Stebbins to Stebenne. I do not know when Alexander changed Stebenne back to Stebbins though. Charles/ Alexander Stebenne/ Stebbins was born October 1, 1830 and was christened October 12, 1830 in St. Marie de Monnoir, Rouville, Quebec. He died April 25, 1889, in Kankakee, Illinois. Fell off porch and died. He was a wagon maker was a widower at his death.
He married Louise Muenier on March 3, 1851 in Montreal Quebec. Louis was born 1832 inSt. Marie de Monnoir, Rouville, Quebec She died May 20 1888 in Kentland, Newton, Indiana.I do not know if she was living there when she died or was just there for some other reason.
Alexander's Stebenne/Stebbins parents: Francois Stebenne was born February 13 1791 in Chambly Quebec. He married Genevieve Bouvier on July 31 1810 in St. Marie de Monnoir, Rouville, Quebec. Genevieve was born about 1790.
The names of her parents and her exact birthdate were not sent to me. I have yet to find out who parents and ancestors were and more about when she was born.
Francois Stebenne's parents:
Pierre Stebenne was born July 26, 1746 Chambly, Quebec. He died June 10, 1816.
Pierre married Susan Davignion-Beauregard daughter of Davignion-Beuregard and Marie Suanne Vallieres, on October 26 1772 in Chambly, Quebec. Marie was born 1772/1753 in St. Mathias, Rouville, Quebec.
I am also researching: Marie's parents Davignion-Beuregard and Marie Suanne Vallieres.
Pierre Stebenne's parents:
Joseph Stebbins/ Stebenne was born April 12, 1699 in Deerfield, Franklin, MA, He died April 32 1753, in Saint Mathias, Rouville, Quebec. Joseph and Marie Marguerite were married by Father LeVassaeur.
Joseph was adopted by the wealthy DeRouville family who had him converted to the Catholic faith. He never returned to American colonies but founded the Stebenne family of Canada (French spelling)
He married Marie Marguerite Sanssouci, daughter of Guillaume James , and Catherine Antoinette Limousin, on November 18 1734 in Fort Chambly, Quebec. Marie was born about 1703 in Boucherville, Quebec.
I am also researching Marie's parents Guillaume James and Catherine Antoinette Limousin.
Joseph's parents: John Stebbins Junior and Dorothy Alexander. They were not born and they were not married in Canada.
