My great grandfather, James W.(?) O"Connell, came to Maynard, Mass. in 1901 or 1902.He was about 48 and just starting his second family with his second wife, my great grandmother, Sarah Jane Taman who was from Ontario. He was a foreman in the sewing room at the mill. I have no proof of his first 48 years but this is what I have been told.He was born in Chicago, Aug. 15, 1853(no birth cert. available that early in Chicago). He lived in Montreal with his first wife.He had at least five children.Three of the names that the relatives remembered were James, William and Catherine. There may have been two other girls.
I found a family that emigrated to Canada in 1888(from ?) and were living in Montreal in the 1901 census.I think that it may have been his first family but I have no way of proving it.Are there any descendents of that first family out there?
Thank you for any information no matter how small.I keep hitting dead-ends with this line.
