I'm in a bind. My family came to Canada in 1910 and I have traced almost all of them. I just discovered a side branch of the family that emigrated to Montreal probably on the mid 1830's.
Francis (Frank) and Mary EASTOE and their children James, George, William, Zaccheus, Mary Ann, Amelia, Hannah and Hephzibah emigrated to Camada and stayed in Montreal where they opened a business and were staunch Baptists. All died in a cholera outbreak except Amelia, Hannah and Hephzibah. Amelia was sent to her uncle James M Phillippo, a Baptist minister, to be governess to his children. Hannah and Hephzibah were adopted (or fostered) in Montreal for a few years before their maternal grandmother, Sarah Phillippo, came to Canada and took them back to England. Hannah, age 16, was living with Sarah in the 1841 British census.
Now her is the part I need help on. I realize that records are very sketchy about the deaths and burials during the cholera outbreaks as mass graves were the rule. However, how would I go about checking for the foster parents and schools? There could be a connection with the Baptist curch for both, but I have no idea how to proceed.
