Looking for any information about a W.J. Fraser (William?) who may have possibly been associated with the firm Fraser & Hoyt in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, probably during the early 1900's. (Discovered the company on line and just assume there may be a connection to it - seems to be an insurance company founded in 1915)
I bought a small watercolour painting at a local auction of a Dartmoor UK landscape by the artist W.G. Cole. On the back of the actual painting, written in the corner, it appears that the painting was sent to Mr. W.J. Fraser in the care of Mr.'s Fraser & Hoyt, New Glasgow, NS. Possibly Mr. Fraser was in the UK at some time & had the painting sent to himself? Hoping I can find out any information about Mr. Fraser and thereby discover an approximate date for the painting. I have not been able to find out much about the artist although there is a William George Cole listed on both the 1901 & 1911 UK Census born & living in Romsey Hampshire - 1901 Census lists him as "Master & Painter". That W.G. Cole died in 1940, age 65.
