I'm interested to learn more of these Mac/McNeill, Bell, MacDougall and related families,including Gordons and Pows. The first group of MacNeills sailed from Colonsay, Scotland, to Prince Edward Island on the ship Spencer in 1806. Our line of the family settled at Wood Islands and Little Sands, then James MacNeill moved to San Francisco around the 1880s->

Notes - Catherine was born at Bonshaw, PEI, about 1856, parents unknown. She married Peter Stewart, farmer of Belle River, on 22 February 1878. (Marriage record, Catherine McDougall, spinster, of Charlottetown, married Peter Stewart, bachelor of Belle Creek, 22 Feb 1878, by Rev J M McLeod, bondsman Neill McDougall, witnesses Annie Ferguson, John Stewart) Their son, Neil Stewart, was born in 1879. Peter was drowned on 10 December 1879 at Point Prim, PEI.
After his father’s death in 1877 James and his brother Archie were farming at Little Sands (1881).James left PEI in the mid-1880s, moved to Quincy, Massachussetts for a few years, then to San Francisco where he stayed. He visited PEI just once in 1917. In 1917 he left Charlottetown, PEI, moving to 25 Joice St, San Francisco, then to 1100 Taylor St, and then to 3701 Sixteenth St, San Francisco

Elizabeth Gordon came from Edinburgh.
Archie Pow was a teamster, operating a team of clydesdales doing haulage work in San Francisco. A son took over the work later. (These children are noted in the San Francisco newspaper indexes - son b1884, dau b1886, son Archibald b 1891 d 1891 age 4mths)
Elizabeth Gordon Pow worked as an office clerk in San Francisco. After marrying, she raised a family of 3 sons. She was very active in the parent-teachers association for Jefferson Grammar School & Abraham Lincoln High School. During WW2 she volunteered to drive ambulances for the Red Cross & was a member of the Eastern Star Masonic Women's Auxiliary. After the war she worked for the Emporium department store in San Francisco.
Donald James MacNeill enlisted in the 72nd Seaforth Highlanders Regiment 27 Aug 1917 in Vancouver, service number 2030324. His unit sailed to Edinburgh in Scotland and then the regiment saw action against the Germans in France. After the war Don worked as a traffic clerk with Western Union & then as a traffic clerk with R.C.A. Communications. About 1924 he went to Honolulu for a year. Don & Elizabeth raised their family at 1218 25th Street, Sunset, San Francisco. During WW2 Don was in charge of monitoring radio & telegraph traffic for R.C.A.
