Sometime about 1865-8, I think, Phoebe Ross married Hugh MacMillan in the North River or Clyde River area. He was born about 1846, she between 1848-1853, I believe. Their children were: Robert, Ewen, Malcolm Ross, Talmage R, Alexander, George, Gordon and Emma, the last born about 1885. A Robert is listed in the 1901 census maybe married to Maud b 1873, w/ maybe children Maude b 1900, Penelope b 1897. All Presbyterian. He a farmer. Don't know if he's "our" Robert.
Phoebe (also called Phee) died Apr 23 1921 and is buried at the Clyde River Presbyterian Church. Her husband Hugh died May 20, 1931. and is buried beside her.
Phoebe was the daughter of Malcolm Ross b Isle of Skye, Scotland 1814. Malcolms father Murdo(ch) Ross, emigrated to Cape Breton 1828. Malcolm's siblings remained in Margaree area, but after Malcolm graduated from Acadia University, he was ordained 1843 at North River Baptist Church. Married Elizabeth Ellis abt. 1844. Had eight -- I believe -- children (Joseph K, Phoebe, George, Harriet, Fanny, Emma, Kaye, Grace) Location lot 65.
Malcolm (sometimes spelled Malcom) ministered in North River, Beddeque, Clyde River and other places. Died in Charlottetown 7 Aug 1894, having baptized many children over the years.
