Hello Carolyn, I see how you are able to think thru the documents you find and pick up clues.Thank you for the detail in your explanation.I have been using this site often to do research in Hemmingford.http://www.swquebec.ca/http://www.swquebec.ca/.
I did find Robinson McIntire's wife in this site. The "go to" number was 33701 but you can do a search by the name and find it too.Her name was Margret Delap and Robinson and Margret were married December 17, 1833 in Hemmingford. It also says he was a boot and shoemaker--interesting information.Witnesses to the marriage were Robinson, Margret and a Robert McIntire.
I found a possible birth record for Joseph Lavois (Laware) in the Quebec, Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection) 1621-1967.It is Baptism year 1823-1830 in St Philippe, Quebec and place of worship as LaPrairie. The only problem is that it is very hard to read and I think it is in French. Do you know how to interpret this?I am curious if he is from France or if it is only the Quebec French that is being referred to.My family always said my grandmother was Scottish, but that is probably correct on her maternal side with Jane (Jennie) McIntyre and her father Robinson. Thanks again for all your help.I could not have done this much without you.
