Hi Heidi,

There is a family in 1871 census which looks like it may be yours.

1871BERESFORD, GLOUCESTER, NB
BLAIR
James, age 51, labourer, born Canada

Margaret, age 47 born NB

Agness, age 20 born NB

Mary age 14 born NB

James, age 10 born NB

Michael, age 8 born NB

Elizabeth, age 6 born NB

William , age 2 born NB

Margaret, age 70 born Canada

they are all listed as French and if this is your family then I suspect Margaret age 70 is mother of James.

For some odd reason I cannot find the family in 1861 census but here they are in 1851

1851 DURHAM, RESTIGOUCHE, NB
BLAIR
James, age 23, handy man

Margaret , wife, age 24

Margaret, daughter, age 3

Agness, daughter, age 1

1881DURHAM, RESTIGOUCHE, NB
BLAIR
James, age 62, farmer, born Canada - shown as English

Margaret, age 58 born NB shown as French

James, age 22, farmer, born NB shown as English

Michael, age 20 farmer, born NB shown as English

Elizabeth, age 18 born NB shown as English

J. William age 12, born NB shown as English

Margaret, age 90 born Canada shown as English (she aged 20 years betweenthe two census records

SHEA
Mary, age 9, born NB, Irish

DUCETTE
John, age 6 born NB French

Margaret, age 4, born NB French

1891 DURAM, RESTIGOUCHE, NB
BLAIR
James, age 72, farmer, born NB father born France mother born Quebec

Margaret, age 70, wife, born NB parents born NB

Michael, age 30, son farmer, born NB parents born NB

William, age 22, son, bartender, born NB parents born NB

Mary, age 36,daughter, born NB parents born NB (she is indexed with them, but in image she is listed as next household after the Shea and Doucett entries

SHEA
Mary, age 19, born NB father born NFLD mother born NB

DOUCETT
Margaret, age 11, born NB parents born NB

Mary Shea and Margaret Doucett both show the letter L under relationship so not sure what that means

Mary Blair, age 36 was last entry on the page but top of next page has her children (I think she is likely a daughter in law, not a daughter to James and Margaret) she is shown as married but no husband there
BLAIR
Clifford, age 11, son born NB parents born NB

Robert, age 9 born NB parents born NB

Walter age 7 born NB parents born NB

Lily, age 2, daughter born NB parents born NB

I do think this is the right family as next door to them is a DAIGLE family
Alexander 33, Philomen 32, Mary 10, Margaret 7, Alexander 5, Elizabeeth 4 and Joseph 1 all born NB with both parents born NB

also next door to them is a Russel family with a daughter Catherine
****************

Here is 1901 census - it is quite faint and a bit hard to read but will do my best

1901 DURHAM, RESTIGOUCHE, NB
BLAIR
James,a ge 80, born July 31, 1820 Quebec

Michael, age 35, son bon Oct. 30, 1862 NB

Katherine, age 29, daughter in law, born March 17, 1871 NB

Michael, age 7, grandson born June 9, 1893 NB

Annie J., age 3, granddaughter, born Nov. 7, 1896 NB

John A., age 5/12, grandson, born Oct. 9, 1900 NB

there are more Blair and She, Doucett names on the page which I can try to read if you would like me to try. Also a Russell family on same page.

1911 DURHAM, RESTIGOUCHE, MN
BLAIR
Michael, age 48, farmer, born Oct. 1862 NB

Katherine, age 38, wife, born March 1873 NB

Michael age 17, son, labourer, born Jan. 1894 NB

Annie age 13, daughter born Nov. 1897 NB

Allan, age 11, son, born Sept. 1899 NB

Margaret, age 9, daughter, born Sept. 1901 NB

Mary, age 7, daughter, born April 1904 NB

Leo, age 6, son, born Feb. 1905 NB

Agnes, age 4, daughter born Feb. 1907 NB

Steely, age 2, daughter born Jan. 1909 NB (indexed as Steely, image looks like name may be Stella ? )

James, age 91, widowed, father born July 1819 Quebec(Index says he was born Ontario but in the image it looks more like a Q to me than an O but not sure)

There is an 1895marriage record for Michael Blair age 33, and Catherine Russell, age 24, married
Belledune, Restigouche
Michael is shown as born Belledune
parents James and Margaret
Catherine's parents names hard to read as they are squished into a narrow column - James and looks like Marg't
there is only a year shown for the marriage, no month or day.

There are also some birth records for some children of Michael and Catherine.

There is also a death for a John Russel Blair, died June 12, 1910 Marysville, age 88 years
farmer
died of heart failure, duration 14 months
born Bay of Chalear

so it fits with your fellow. I have not found death for James/Jacob or wife Margaret

There is a baptism for Agnes Blair, daughter of James and Margaret
baptized Aug. 17, 1851 , born Ju;y 20, 1851. Parents James Blair and Margaret Daigle.

There is a marriage May 22, 1871 of an Agnes Blair and Robert Shea, married in Dalhousie
I suspect this is she as it shows Robert is of Little Placentia, NFLD and Agnes is of Belledune.

** so this would make sense as to the Shea child in the census records with James and Margaret

there is also a marriage Jan 31, 1875 for Agnes Blair, widow of Robert Shea of Belledune to Joseph Doucett of Black Parish
in the presence of Michael Daigle and Rose Ann Doucet

so it again seems to fit as there were also Doucett children with James and Margaret so now we see where they fit in.

There is a marriage in Dalhousie July 27, 1877 of a Mary Blair, formerly of Belledune to Cornelius Jones of Dalhousie.

so possibly daughter of James and Margaret

there is a baptism for Elizabeth Blair March 15, 1864 Belledune - it just says she was baptized age 10 days old, child of James Blair and Margaret Daigle

and marriage for this ElizabethOct. 26, 1885 Belledune Louis Corrier/Cornier/Carrier (not sure of spelling) son of Pierre Carrier (?) and Elizabeth Fardy (Tardy) of Eel River and Elizabeth Blair, daughter of James Blair and Margaret Daigle of this Parish.

There is a marriage of a William Blair to Mary Ann Pitre June 20, 1897 in Belledune. No parent's names shown, but the witnesses are Louis Carrier and Elizabeth Blair which seems to look like this is probably William, son of James and Margaret and brother of Elizabeth

also a baptism for William Isaac Blair July 25, 1869 , aged 6 months, son of James Blair and Margaret Daigle - Belledune

I can loo for more for you if you wish.
