In less than 9 months we will set sail on the lovely Adriatic for an adventure of a lifetime. Our tour will include many of the cultural monuments of the ancient towns of the Adriatic Islands and the coastal towns of Split, Dubrovnik and Trogir. We travel aboard a modern and comfortable family owned motor sailing ship in the calm waters amongst the southern islands of the Adriatic for seven days.
After our sailing tour we then travel north to walk the trails of the incrdedible Plitvice Lakes Park. These park has been featured on both PBS and BBC TV, called Land of the Falling Lakes
After our tour of Plitvice Lakes we will be the guests of Park Ranger, Rudi Rubcic, who will prepare a traditional Croatian meal, cooked over an open fire. And as a special added treat we will be treated to traditional tamburitza music. And of course for those who wish we may dance the Croatian Kolo.
After we overnight at Plitvice Lakes Hotel we drive a short distance to visit our friends at Gornje Bukovlje. Here we are the guests of the local ladies cultural club who will prepare a special lunch for us.This is.... Croatia as it once was during our ancestors time.I must admit that tears of joy flowed last year as we became part of this village... Below you can see the ladies working with the loom... which our group donations helped purchase
Our final destination will be the capital of Zagreb, which some call a mini Vienna. Here we can visit one of the many museums, simply stroll the pedestrian friendly old town, do some last minute shopping for souveniers and for those who wish we will visit the National Archives where we will be assisted by the Croatian Genealogical Society to look up old family records. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lSnCWlvHpwhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lSnCWlvHpw
The attached installment of our upcoming tour is more of Dubrovnik (where we will spend a couple of days)....where you will have time to sample the culinary and cultural flavors, walk the walls of the old town or perhaps take the cable car for a breathtaking view of this ancient walled town
