I have been to Prague, Pisek, Temelin and a few other villages.I have searched cemeteries, Catholic parish registries and attempted to make contact with Pizinger/Pisingers living in the Czech Republic to no avail.
Based on the geography of the Czech Republic and what I've been told by my family, we believe that the Pizinger family that lost their land in the mid-1980s are related to us.My uncle and grandfather (who passed in 2005) both told me that our family comes from a farm near the Czech-German-Austrian border. The farm in question is approximately 19km away from the border of the 3 countries and about 2-5km away from "Obec Temelin".It is a VERY VERY small village and I walked the 8km between it and Tyn nad Vlatvou while taking pictures and video to show my family back in the US.My uncle did say the village name did sound familiar, but since everyone who would know for sure are long gone, we cannot substantiate that.
In the final two days of my one month stay in Prague, it was brought to my attention that the surname I am looking for is JEWISH and always has been. This was a surprise to me as this was not a place we had even THOUGHT to look!Unfortunately, by the time I found this out, I didn't have time to go back and look at the Jewish records in the Pisek and Prague regions. My family and I are planning a return visit back to the Czech Republic, but it may not be for another year or two and with my dad being in poor health, I would really like to get somewhere with this line of our family tree.
I am looking for birth and marriage records for the following ancestors:
Josef Pisinger born in or around 1930, married a Marie Kudlata (or some close variation of it) sometime in or around 1865 in what was listed simply as "Austria" (which could have been several different places by today's boundaries).Their first child, Franz Pisinger was born in 1863.The second and third children, a set of twin boys named James Wenzeslaus and Thomas were born in September 1871 in Prague. The family of 5 immigrated to the US on the New York (name of the ship) when the twins were 9 months old.I have a copy of the ship passenger list.
Someone recently posted on a family tree that Josef's parents were:Josef Pizinger born in 1811 and Magdelena Cafaurková born in 1814, but the original poster has yet to reply to my inquiry asking for more information/records on this connection.
I am slowly combing through the Czech Census records from 1868-69 in hopes of finding them.Anyone that might have some useful information is welcome to pop in and share!
It has also been rumored that Josef Pisinger was also a twin (I have twins as well), but so far, this has just been a family legend.
