Unfortunately there are no naturalization records and the death certificate says "unknown."
Here is a little bit more information:
It is said Chrestina left Denmark alone after her parents died. We have a picture that is supposed to be of her stepfather "Jorgenson" taken Kobenhavn, and a photo of her mother taken in "Djaknegatan." An old photo of another woman was taken in "Snertinge."
Later in her life, Chrestina wrote "came to Wheatland, ND July 15, 1886," but I don't know if this is the date she left Denmark, arrived in the U.S., or arrived in Wheatland.
It is said she went to Wheatland to live with an uncle, who I believe to be Iver and Christine (Hanson) Madson. About 1892 she settled south of Michigan, ND with another uncle, Nels P. and Annie (Larsen) Hanson until her marriage in 1894. Those who signed as witnesses were William and Julius Larsen.
I've been learning more about the Hanson/Larsen/Madson families, but still don't know how Chrestina fits in.
