I'm looking for my birth father, Jose Olmedo Alvarez (possibly Olmedo Jose Alvarez), born in Quito, Ecuador around 1935 or so, who moved to Canada to sail on oil tankers in the Great Lakes in the 1950's or early 60's. He was in Sarnia in 1962 (that's why I'm here), and was last known to be in Miami, Florida, around 1993, raising three daughters after his wife left. He is probably a retired ship's engineer, who may have worked for Texaco after a long stint at Imperial Oil, has a gold front tooth and is missing part of his left index finger from the first knuckle. He has a brother George (Jorge?) who lived in Toronto for some time, and may have had cousins (Fiona?) in Philadelphia in the early 60's.
The Alvarez family in Ecuador apparently were well-off, and may have had a horse ranch in Quito in the 1930's. Any information would be greatly appreciated!
