The Bergeron D'Amboise Association is always searching for facts that might be found in Amboise France or elsewhere in the world.
In the early 1990's a Bergeron descendant from Quebec City, Canada , while visiting in Amboise with his son, visited the city Hall to find the civil registry(registe civil) the purpose of that visit was an attempt to locate information concerning Barthelemy Bergeron. At that time he was not aware of all of the details about Barthelemy Bergeron but had done some personal research and wanted to know if he could find more information by talking to some one in that department.
He asked an attendant if they had anything of interest concerning Barthelemy. He was most surprised whenthe attendant went into the back and returned with a folder of letters and documents about Barthelemy. He could not read every thing because of time restraints but he left with the satisfaction of knowing that Barthelemy had come from Amboise and that there was information to be found there...
Later on, after retiring he kept on searching going from one thing to another until he finally got in touch with the Bergeron d'Amboise Association. Although we now can go as far back as 23 May 1664 and find his baptism and then to 1682 to find Barthelemy enrolled in the company Franche de la Marine and on his way to Québec Canada, and later in about 1695 married to Genevieve Serrau dit St-Aubin at Port Royal (Acadie), but we cannot be sure that he is the son of René and Anne Dagaut baptized at St-Denis, Amboise 23 May 1663. Because there was another Barthelemy Bergeron born to Antoine and Claudette Scarron during the same time period.(23 May 1664)
So, we would very much like to know if that file seen in Amboise at the City Hall in the beginning of the 1990's still exists and if it would contain some more information. Particularly some personal data since he was in the compagie franche -de la- marine embarking for Canada. Maybe the name of his parents and the confirmation of dates, baptism etc. Anything that would confirm that the Barthelemy Bergeron born to René and Anne Dagaut and baptized at St-Denis, Amboise 23 May 1663 and the Barthelemy that later married Genevieve Serrau dit St-Aubin at Port Royal (Acadie) in 1695 are one and the same person.
Anyone who could go to Amboise and search for that file and make copies of pertinent data would help us immensely. We would require "hard copies" of all documents submitted whether by photocopying or camera. Our Association will be willing to pay a reasonable fee to anyone willing to help with this search.
