thanks so much for your kind offer.
Unfortunately I do not know the filed name/number for Jean Henri De Wildermouth's military record.
All that I did was send a message to Records of the Ministry of Defence (using their website) asking them if they had anything and if so what and how much.
As he was a Colonel I thought that there would be a good chance that there would be a record for him.According to their website they take about 2 months to get back to you.
this is the website that I went to
What I do know about Jean Henri de Wildermouth is that may of began his career as an officer in the Royal Suédois Infanterie during the seven years war.
This was a French 'foreign' regiment formed from captured Swedish Merceneries. All officers had to be Swedish, so this would suggest as an officer Jean-Henri was Swedish born.
In 1784 he was based in Strasbourg as a Major in The Duc de Sang Sang's Strasbourg regiment which is when he married Marie Von Hugel.
If you are able to find anything about him or speed up the process I would be over the moon as I have very little knowledge on how to undertake research in France.
