I have recently received an official copy of the death certificate which shows her Father as "Richard Mercer". Mother is unkown?
NOTE: Rootsweb has her death information fouled up- even though they have the proper ss#, they have the wrong birthdate and her last name is misspelled- I have informed them of the error.
1900 Census: Ms. Mercer is now married to George W. Srews (actually Screws). They are residing in Ga, Baker County. Militia District 971, district 2. She is listed as Maggie Srews. Her birthday is shown as April 1889. However this is a 1900 census and she is shown as being 18 years old- so the April 1889 birth date is obviously inaccurate. This (1900) census shows her as never having children. See columns 11 and 12. (number of how many children= 0) and (number of these children living=0).
Note: Her younger sister is living with them. Her name is spelled Minnie Murcer.
1910 Census: Ms. Mary Magdalen (Mercer) is found in the 1910 census as Maggie McNeal, and in the 1920 census as Mary M McNeal. Both same. wlm. This census (1910) shows her as having had 2 children with one living. The living child (deceased 29 Mar 1988)is Sidney Earl Mcneal which we are aware.
Marriage Information of Madgie Mercer and George Screws attached in my file as media- was provided from a photo copy of a book received from Ms. Iva Rutledge 1-1-2011. The record is of Baker Co, Ga marriage records indicating they married on 24 Oct 1897. NOTE: That page also shows a George W. Screws of which some of the information I found showed George W also.
This came via e-mail from Paula Shelly Dean on 11-14-2010: "I just looked up Lacy McNeil in my marriage book of Houston Co Al ; Feb 1903- Aug 1936 [note I know for a fact that there is some mistakes in the book, so be sure to double check the info---" I found Lacy McNeil married Madgie Serews 7-31-1907 Book 1 page 537
I also recently found information on her sister Minnie Mercer: 1900 Census: She is listed as Minnie Murcer. Liviing with sister and brother-in-law (Maggie Srews[should be Screws] and George W Srews[should be Screws]).
Which is in Georgia, baker County, Militia district 971, district 2. On page 2 of 35 line 98.
Jim Martin provided the following: Minnie married Garrett L. Parker in 1902. They had one child (Hallie Parker) that was born about 1904. Minnie died about 1905. Jim thinks she is buried in Elmodel near Newton Georgia. G.L. Parker is in the 1910 census.
