All of the info is available online at familysearch.org (and some from Ancestry.com, but I believe it is in both places). I also found the birth of another child in 1875 which shows you how early they were here:
Name: Matthews Birth Date: 09 Oct 1875 Birthplace: Chicago, Cook, Illinois Gender: Male Race (Original): WHITE Race: White Father's Name: Henry Matthews Father's Birthplace: Father's Age: Mother's Name: Louisa Wagner
If Max was 9 when he arrived, then he is older than he makes out (ie, born about 1865), or if he was born in 1868, then he was younger when he arrived in the US.I don't know why I can't find any of them in the 1880 US Census or on an immigration list, but they're out there somewhere!
I just like to keep the English language from becoming all slang and without grammar.
