finding roots - Dr. Maria 1920s Berlin, Germany
Hi,
Help required to trace my husband's ancesters.
We don't have much information but what ever we have is given below:
Grandfather Laxman Prasad Varma, a freedom fighter moved from USA to Switzerland to Germany as part of freedom struggle, he was part of the "Ghadr" party.
German government was sympathetic and offered monetary and other help. He was given a confectionery to run in / around Berlin.
He married a German, Dr. Maria. (Her maiden surname not known.) The other fact known is that her father was a dean of a medical college in / around Berlin.
She was kind of distanced by her family for having married an Indian.
They had two children. Their son, Krishna Varma (Abhay's father) was born in Germany on January 24, 1924 or 1925.
They left Germany when their son was about 10 years old as he was being mistaken for a Jew and was infact twice picked up to be taken away.
We have few pictures from their time in Germany. How do I post them on this site?
Any help regarding this will be appreciated!
thanks!!
