Robert, Thanks for your input. The Schultes were raised as Catholics in America. I assume that the parents were Catholic also but since they died when the children were young, I can't be sure. We have the marriage records from the Catholic Church in Victoria, Texas and no towns in Germany are mentioned. U.D.C. stands for United Daughters of the Confederacy. Kates Brother Fred was in the Civil War. I also didn't find a town called Stuccombe but I did find a Stockhiem (two dots over the O) that was in the Brunschweig area. Just rececently got a copy of the document that has Wilhelm's name on it that he signed for land in Texas. The document is in German which I can't read and is online at the Texas General Land Office website.
