Hello, I have an ancestor who first appears on a 1850 St Louis, Missouri city census as Frederick Becker and states that he is from "Saxony".
One of his daughters, later when the family moved to Plattin Township in Jefferson County (near present day Festus-Crystal City, Missouri) ... I believe it was the 1880 Census ... One of Frederick's Daughters Ida (Becker) Sanguinette states that she or her parents were born in Hanover, Germany.
My questions are:
1. Was Hannover part of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) ? 2. Was Hannover its own Kingdom in 1840 to 1848? 3. If a family in Missouri reports at one time Saxony and another time Hannover ... doesn't that mean Lower Saxony?
Danke und tschuss, Lance Fallin descendant of Robert Becker (Son of Frederick Becker) and Sarah Emma Becker (Robert's Daughter).
