The alternate spellings you provided will be immensely helpful in searching the immigration records. In fact, I found a US IRS Tax Assessment List for 1864, Michigan, District 4:"Aug 9 1864 Kamino William, Location unreadable, 2900 Cigars?," which supports the name variations you mentioned.
This is my first venture into tracing family in Germany, so I have to admit that I'm a bit at a disadvantage, so want to thank you so very much for your guidance.
The information for the Kemano family listed in the 1860 US Census for the Village of Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan on July 21, 1860 was:
Kemano, William, Age 66, Male, Born in Hannover Fredrica, Age 51, Female, Born in Hannover Augustis, Age 9, Male, Born in Hannover Hime, Leander, Age 26, Male, Born in Michigan Minnie, Age 19, Female, Born in Hannover Franklin, Age 1, Male, Born in Michigan
I haven't been able to locate William F. Kemano, Jr in the 1860 US Census, But in the 1880 US Census, he was listed in Hopkins, Allegan, Michigan, as age 40 (making his year of birth circa 1840, born in Prussia.
I do not have any information regarding their religious denomination, but will pursue that further.
What I am seeking in particular is the parentage and ancestry of both William Kemano, Sr. and his wife Fredricka, birth, marriage, baptism, death records, etc.
Armed with the name variations, I will seek more information from American immigration records which may provide the information required to continue my search in Germany.
Thank you so very much for responding.Your assistance is appreciated more than you know.
