A set of Greenland's accompanied John Winthrop to Mass Bay Colony.
Another set of Greenland's came to Virginia Colony in the middle 1600's.They lived in Henrico Co., on the fringes of the settlement. They were completely exterminated in the Indian Wars of the 1670's.
Another branch came to Charleston SC.They were active and prominent in Charleston affairs for a long time. They owned several homes inlcuding one on Tradd Street (in the old part of Charleston) and land outside of Charleston as well. They were in the rice planting business. In the rosters of confederate soldiers lists several Greenland's from Charleston.
I agree that Richard Greenland came to Harford co., Maryland - Harve de Grace - to be with relatives.I believe he was a watchmaker.
A Johnathan Greenland enlisted in the colonial militia after Braddock's defeat, he was from Maryland.
