P. Delbos was in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1829 when he wrote his will bequeathing "to Joseph Destries, my nephew, living with his mother the widow Destries in Santiago de Cuba ---- to Sophia (Prevost Jewell) Storne, wife of Joseph Storne (in Charleston, South Carolina) ---." Sophia Prevost had fled the slave uprising in the 1790s in St. Dominique in which her father had been killed and ended up in Charleston, South Carolina. Sophia (Sara Sophira) is said to have been born in 1775 in Cap Francois, Cuba. At the time of the slave uprising her father is said to have been a high-ranking military or governmental official.
