Thanks. My particular ancestor was Guillaume Stanislaus Hubert bn. ca. 1763.He married the Emilie Sophie Clothilde Marchegay vve. Pierre Toiry (mother was a Deslands de Lancelot)ca. 1796.Guillaume was the legal tudor to Sophie and Pierre's children. Guillaume and Sophie had three children: Guillaume, Marie Antoinette, and Louis Amazon. After the slave revolt, Guillaume moved to New Orleans and Sophie moved to Bourdeaux with her Children.Louis returned to New Orleans ca. 1814.Guillaume married Marie Robinet vve. Padirac. Her mother was a Navarre.
Guillaume father and mother were Pierre Benoit Hubert and Catherine Deschamps Montilly. He was from Tours, France though I've never found anything on him there yet.He was supposedly a huegonot and was a member of the Masonic lodge. In San Domaigne, Guillaume and His wife had three planations, Cold River, Grand River and Bl?.All were in the district of Jeremie. Guillaume, according to his masonic papers was "commisaire de marine."He supposedly had several ships he shipped his coffee etc. to France.
I wonder if Jean Hubert and Guillaume were related.
What did you find on the Robinet? She was born in San Domaigne.Guillaume's first wife Sophie was born in Grenade, Windward Islands. Her father was the "audiencier de court" in San Domaigne.
