I have reason to believe that some of my ancestors migrated from Haiti to Louisiana--maybe as slaves, maybe as free folks fleeing after the revolution. Telemaque occured very rarely in the US, almost all early 1700-1900 Telemaques were in Louisiana using the name as an only name or last name. In recent months I've learned that the name is not uncommon among the Peul Fulani of Senegal. Would love to make contact with anyone researching the Telemaque name. My own group was in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana--others who may have had Hatian roots in early Avoyelles were, Martineau's, Francisco's and Magloire's.
