Re: [bay-island-genealogy] Searching for the Bodden Family of Dorothy(Dottie) and Talbert George Bodden
The Bay Islands were settled in abt 1830-1850 primarily by persons from Cayman seeking a better economic climate. Thousands went to the islands of Honduras and Nicaragua and both regions today have many traditionally Cayamian names
Travel and migration back and forth between the countries continued until recently. Altho in the mid 1850's England ceded the islands to Honduras and Nicaragau and thus they became "spanish" the primarily language spoken until abt 1950 was English.
Infact the the present day accent of those from the Bay Islands and Cayman is very similar
