Mönchdorf , Romanian Herina , Hungarian Harina , Transylvanian Saxon Minzdrof * , in Bistrita-Nassod circuit (Bistrita-Nasaud) in Transylvania, Romania, about 14 km as the crow located southwest of Bistrita. The geographical coordinates are 47 ° 1 'north latitude and 24 ° 25' east longitude

Most likely those who went to Columbus and Cinncinnati Ohio went to work in meat packing, steel making or breweries... there would be no coal mines there.Youngstown perhaps steel making.
John GONDOSCH who lived in Cincy, was a carpenter
Anton GONDOSCH who lived in Cleveland was a metal polisher
John GONDOSCH who lived in Youngstown area was a farmer
David GONDOSCH who lived in Youngstown was a driver for a Creamery
These folks were typically skilled workers and I would suspect that most were not coal miners. The Hungarians brought Germans to Transylvania centuries ago to develop the land and trades... they are typically refered to as Transylvania Saxons

You may also want to try the spelling GONDOS
If you want to dig back in time you certainly can not expect to find things in English... you need to learn just a bit of German or Hungarian... you don't need to be fluent but you need to learn enough to read basic records
There was a TRANSYLVANIA SAXON GENEALOGY AND HERITAGE SOCIETY based in Youngstown Ohio but I don't believe they exist these days.
