These folks were typically skilled workers and I would suspect that most were not coal miners.The Hungarians brought Germans to Transylvania centuries ago to develop the land and trades... they are typically refered to as Transylvania Saxons
If you want to dig back in time you certainly can not expect to find things in English... you need to learn just a bit of German or Hungarian... you don't need to be fluent but you need to learn enough to read basic records
There was a TRANSYLVANIA SAXON GENEALOGY AND HERITAGE SOCIETY based in Youngstown Ohio but I don't believe they exist these days.
