Believe itmor not these past few days all I ever did was to catch up on sleep and rest my weary bones. You know the elections (for President and Vice-President and 12 Senators and some hundreds of congressmen and local officials)took place on May 10.Two months before we were on the campaign trail (did I ever mention that I am the Production Division chief of the Presidential Broadcast Staff [Television] ?) So I was required to go on all the sorties in the whole breadth and width of the country. In between the backbreaking labor I sneaked into the genealogy forum to see what's up. The counting of the ballots have started and everyone (including the incumbent President) is just tiptoeing around and biting their nails wating for the results.Good time for the troops (yours truly included)to stay away from the office and hit the mattresses (gone "undercovers" would be more like it)and catch up on sleep so desperately needed.
Anyway, before hibernating I ordered my son Krispin to keep up on the forum and the guy just upped and created this Ontong Clan Worldwide on the Friendster network. He works at home after recently resigning as an instructor of web design and programming and God knows what academic subjects else at this premier computer college in the Philippines. He fools around a lot with the unit at home and has designed web sites for a number of big time companies here in the Philippines. His kid brother is his free lance employee at their own outfit (Noel actually works as computer wizard at the national radio network called Radio ng Bayan).
Got a piece of snail mail last week with one more misspelling of my, no, OUR surname. The address was Mr. Alex F. Ontory. This is a running gag in the household -- more frequently our surname is misspelled and we have gone from Antong, to Ontong, Onton, Ortog, Ortorg, Artong, Artony.Once I received mail addressed to Mr. Alex Antony. Who the heck is that ?I am half-convinced now that the Antony's of the world are our distant relatives.Someone somewhere sometime mispelled Ontong and the misspelling created the Antonys and thus began the Antony clan.
BTW, Kris has mailed the Thai guy you mentioned and about a dozen other Ontongs whose email addresses he searched on the engines on the net.Isn't this Ontong Clan Wordlwide a fantastic idea ?!Maybe at some future time we could hold The Great Big Monstrous Ontong Gathering. We'll hold it at Ontong Java Island, of course.
Did you see the family photo ?Don't be fooled by the bright lighting of the photo. Our skins are brown, thekind that the Anglos try so hard to acquire by sitting under a sun lamp for hours.
