My ancestor came / was Bornin Singen in Baden GERMANY , He was Born in Germanybut was of Dutch Origin,His mother was a German ,in the family emblemthe van der Straaten family have Duckson it , His motherhas a German nameeg von Hanen ? We are not sure at all if this is correct .this was just passed down to us .
The new version in ( ca .1700 ) ofthe van der Straaten family in Germanywere2 halves;- Dividedby4Quarters with colours of (i)Baroque Pink & Gold ,and (ii)Baroque PaleBlue & Gold and a bar ofblankcolour ,with 3 Ducks . the whole emblem isFlankedby / withLeaves,In the centre top is a Large Birdor Swan? Bottom;- the Motto of the emblem is , Virtusin Ohnia via Dux.
AlsoTo distinguish our van der Straaten family ,From their Holland Members
The name is of Dutch Origin but they seems to haveLived or Workedin Germanyand have intermarriedthere.
,I presume the Colours of Blue , Pink andGoldbelonged tothe maternal parent of Engelbertus van der Straaten who came to Ceylon .in 1742,he married in Ceylon to Susanna Thysz on the 7th of November1742 . Engelbertus van der Straaten was a Corporalin the VOC army. thanksNina.
