Hi Joseph, I no longer keep in touch with the Doonans but I can give you a little information on the girls. Mary would be about 42-43 now, Gertrude was a bit older. They both went to St Josephs primary school, Castle Street, Lisburn and then Mary went to St Patricks High School, Ballinderry Road Lisburnfor a couple of years before moving to Rathmore Grammer School, Finaghy. Gertrude also went to Rathmore before going to Queens University in Belfast. Mary went to St Mary's Teaching training college. Both attended St Patricks Church, Chapel Hill Lisburn so you may find marriage or baptism records there. Mary's Dad was the Station Master at Lisburn Train Station, Bachelors Walk, Lisburn for many years - they may have some records on him. They lived in the Station Masters house on the North Circular Road, Lisburn. I heard that mary worked for "Help the Aged" and I remember seeing a newspaper photo of her in connection with some sort of community organisation.I googled "Mary Doonan Help the aged" and Mary Doonan-McCartancame up! so maybe that is her married name now. I lost contact with Mary after I left school, but I do know someonewho did the same teaching course as her - I could ask them if they have any further info. As far as I know the family moved back to where they originally came from - I think it was Co.Tyrone (but Im not sure). I also heard that marys mum was ill with cancer of the mouth and died sometime in the 1990s and her dad died around the same time. I have some photos of Mary in her teens - if you send me your email address, I could send them to you. I have no further information on gertrude or the son - there was never another child about when I was at their house and I dont remember mary talking about a brother, unless he was older. Sorry I dont have any other info for you, but hope this helps, Amanda
