Mary Foley b. 1885/6 Ireland; immigrated to U.S. 1904; m. Michael Francis Joy 1905; son James Edward (1906) and Honorah Madeline (1909). She left the family sometime between 1910 and 1916. Mary was my great-grandmother, and I'd love to find out what happened to her after she left the family. She was the daughter of Thomas Foley and Kate Carl, who I believe lived in Kerry. She used the maiden name of Foley in the marriage documents, and then she used the maiden name of Teirney on her childrens' birth records. I have no idea why.
Mary and Michael (Joy) were married in Northampton, Massachusetts and lived in Springfield, Massachusetts (in 1910 census). They were married by a Justice of the Peace, rather than a priest, even though Michael was Catholic.
I believe she had a sister who came over from Ireland, as well, though I haven't found any information about her yet.
