I'm trying to track Quirks from Smethport, McKean Co. PA. My great, great grandfather John Quirk came from Ireland with a brother, possibly Michael, after killing a British soldier. This would be in the early 1800s to 1850 time frame. They were from a family of 12 boys, possibly from County Clare. John married in the U.S., but his wife died. He subsequently married Ann Gorman in Smethport, many years his junior, and gave birth to nine children. (?). Several of these children's baptisms are registered in McKean County, but mygreat grandfather Michael Quirk, born in Smethport in 1861 is not listed. I believe other relatives of John in Smethport may be Michael Quirk, married to Honora or Hanna Hungerville or Hingerville or Hungaville, and a Nicholas Quirk who married Catherine hingerville. Another Smethport relative may be Mary Quirk who married Martin Byrns. Michael's children were Catherine, Mary Helen and Theresa--all baptised in 1854-1863 timeframe. John, Mary and Nicholas also had children baptised in Smethport dueing the same time frame. Does anyone have more information on this family? I'm trying to trace them back to a ship's log and a county in Ireland.
