You need to provide more info -- who did Tom marry, where did he die, what did he name his children ... where do you first see him in the census?
Kathleen,As you can see I am very new at this. Thomas J. married Mary Doyle who was born in Ireland.Thomas' dad (name unknown, the object of my search) was born in Ireland but his mom (name unknown) was born in Massachusetts. I do not know when Thomas J. died, but I suspect it was in New York City, Kings County (Brooklyn).I saw his name in both the 1900 and 1910 census. In both, he was living in NYC.Together with Mary, he had 10 children, 6 of whom survived. His children were Mary, Ellen, William E. (my grandfather) Joseph, Consuela, Florence, Victoria, and Margaret (still alive in 1900).As I say, I am trying to find Thomas' father; the one listed as "Father's Birthplace: Ireland."He would be the first of our Doyle clan here in the states.Until finding the census, I had no idea my great-grandfather was born in Alabama.
