Hello Kathleen,I am still working on this branch of the family. It took a while but I have more info.
In the 1860 Census Cook County Ward 7 I found the following family which I think are Tom Heavey and Mary Gavin.
Thomas Harvey Born Approx 1820 (40 yrs)Ireland Mary Harvey Born Approx 1825 (35 yrs) Ireland Patrick Harvey Born Approx 1844 (16 yrs) Ireland Anne Harvey Born Approx 1846 (14 yrs) Ireland Rosa Harvey Born Approx 1853 (7 yrs) New York Thomas Harvey Born Approx 1858 (2 yrs) Illinois
I also found them in the Chicago City Directory at 66 N Market St in the 1860's and in 1870.
Then in the US 1870 CENSUS - ILLINOIS COOK - CHICAGO WARD 18 - PAGE 39 ROWS 16 - 19
Thomas Ha?y Carpenter 50 yrs old born Ireland (1820) Mary Keeping House 44 yrs old born Ireland (1826) Thomas Attending school 12 yrs old born Illinois (1858) Margaret - - - 5 yrs old born Illinois (1865)
Closest thing I have been able to find. They lived at 66 N Market St according to the 1870 directory - which was Ward 18.
After the Chicago fire, I located them in the city directory at Crosby Street where they lived until they died.
They are listed in the 1880 Census as Harvy at the Crosby Street address.
I have been able to confirm where Mary Gavin Heavey was buried at Calvary Cemetary in Chicago, but not Tom.
I am still in a quandry regarding their coming over from Ireland and if there is any record of the brothers.I have tried to find them as Heavey, Havey and Harvey.
