Any information on a Brannagan Family in Wicklow (The town within Co. Wicklow)would be apprciated. Edward Brannagan was born abt 1823 in Wicklow. He may have had a sister Margaret born 1817. Margaret MAY have been a sister in law.
Edward left Ireland for England, and he married an English woman named Sarah (Still looking for her surname)from Patley Bridge, Yorkshire, England circa 1849. He was a surveyor by trade, and moved quite a bit around England and Scotland in his life.
He was in the UK Army in 1861, a private, soldier #998. During this time, Margaret Brannagan (mentioned above) stayed with Edward's wife and children in Staffordshire, England.
I am looking for anyone who might have any information on Edward and/or his wife. I am seeking any siblings, parents, etc.
I have exhausted almost all online sources I can find. Here, familysearch, ancestry, Griffith's on findmypast, etc. However, if someone has any ideas, that would be great. I cannot find much, if anything, about Wicklow Brannagans. Griffith's hasn't been helpful. Unfortunately, without knowing his father's name (as Edward was never a leasee), and not having the names of people in the household on the valuation, it leaves me at a standstill. Griffith's has a Bryan Brannagan, a John Brangan, and a Patrick Brangan during the time period that could be his father's life.
Edward was in England and married by 1850 in his early 20's. No online records can be found proving his existence until then.
One thing I have found, is a possibility from the Deputy Keeper of Ireland, Index to the Act or Grant Books, and to Original Wills, of the Diocese of Dublin 1272-1858 (26th, 30th and 31st Reports, 1894, 1899) Transcription.
There is an 1815 will for a George Brannigan. Edward's daughter Sarah (my great great grandmother) named her first son George Edward. (He went by Eddie). There isn't a Griffith's valuation for this George, nor do I know if it is a coincidence. So, I am hoping that someone else may be researching something similar in Wicklow. :)
