Not sure this is the correct forum to post my questions.I am researching an Arthur Ronan born in St.Mary's Parish on the Tipperary and Waterford boarder in April 1795. The only other record was one for a baptism for a Margaret Emers in the South Parish in Cork in June 1814. Arthur was a Sponsor. Being an uncommon given name for the surname Ronan. I am inclined to think the two Arthurs are one in the same.
Does anybody know,if it was common for Irish to relocate to other counties with in Ireland in the early 1800's?
Would they travel to another county, only to be a sponsor or witness for church rites?
