JULIA LEHAN (LEHANE), member of an old Gaelic family in County Cork, Ireland, married JOHN CHINNERY on Sept. 15, 1849, also from Cork, in an unknown parish. They are also said to have some connection with Portumna, County Galway. After their marriage, John and Julia went to Wales, where their four children were born, including the youngest, Michael, in 1858, my g-grandfather. Following John's death circa 1858, Julia emigrated to New York with her four children. She arrived there sometime between 1858 and 1865. They lived in nearby Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. Julia died approximately in the 1870s. I have tracked the family since their arrival in New York City, but have yet to learn the names of the parents of John and Julia in Ireland - or whether they had any siblings. Chinnery is an Anglo-Irish name, but I believe John Chinnery was Catholic rather than Church of Ireland. Julia was definitely Catholic. I have lots of info to share.
