Still trying to make connections to my own Moody family who may have come through Nor. Ireland after leaving Scotland and before coming to Nor. America c1735 and after.
We share Ydna with several Moody's whose families came out of Nor. Ireland but we have yet to be able to determine just which line of them. There was an early John MOODY b.c1731 in Lisraw, Co. Armagh whose wife was Margaret b.c1749. Then there was an early William MOODY b.c1746 whose wife (perhaps a 2nd wife) was Sarah b. c1762. Another John MOODY b.c1801 poss. a son of either of these two other Moody's as well. Our Moody's sailed out of Co. L'derry around c1735 for America...one Thomas MOODY b.c1710 or earlier who married a Jean McQUISTON daug. of Benjamin McQuiston (also seen spelled McQuestion and McCuiston and all sorts of other ways....McHuiston etc.)I have seen the McQuestion spelling in the old church records of Co. Down where the Rev. James MOODY b.1705 of Newry was Presbyt. minister. I know that his father John MOODY was born in Tandragee, Co. Armagh and that he married Elizabeth SHANNON. I believe there is a link between these MOODY's and perhaps to our Ydna Moody's but so far cannot make that link. Rev. James MOODY married Frances KENNEDY daught. of Rev. Gilbert KENNEDY who came from a long line of Gilbert Kennedy's and these families all came over from the Ayrshire, Scotland area probably around the same time to Nor. Ireland during the Presbyterian times of the late 1600's I believe it was. If anyone can add further to this I would be most greatful as I am truly wanting to find my Moody family "across the pond". Thank You very much.
