I never have quite understood the Pennsylvania county marriage license records, I'll have to look into it a bit more, but the records I believe are two fold. The marriage record is bare bones: the parties, the date, where they married, their ages and who married them. The license or rather the application usually has more data. However, the data contained in the application did vary over the years. In other words I'm suggesting getting the application record if there is one.
Don't forget to get his obit. If it doesn't have his parents it might have his siblings, at least any that also immigrated. If his death certificate and obit doesn't have the parents his siblings' might.
