My Francis Reilly/O'Reilly b.1839 ran the general store on Main St in Ballyconnell with his wife Catherine nee Bannon during the late 1890's until 1912. They had four children baptised in Kildallan while living in Ballyconnell. Anne Reilly b. 1865, Francis(son)Reilly b. 1869, Charles O'Reilly b.1870 and Owen Reilly b.1873.
Francis and his brother Hugh died 11 days apart in March and April of 1918. Both died of pneumonia, in Ballyconnell, as registered by Charles O'Reilly b. 1870. Francis was 78 yrs old and Hugh 71. Seven yrs apart in age.
I have hopefully tracked down the family of Francis Reilly b. 1839 in Drumlane Parish records listed as living 1.5 miles E.S.E. down the road from Ballyconnell in Cranaghan which is right on the boarder of Tomregan Parish and Drumlane Parish.
Hugh Reilly b. 1846, Cranaghan, Drumlane Parish, married Annie Fitzpatrick of Derryvony, just N.E. of Cranaghan by 3 miles, on 19 Oct 1897. Witnessed by Francis Mc Hugh and Ellen Fitzpatrick. Annie's parents were Francis Fitzpatrick and Mary nee Farrelly. Hugh was 51 years of age at the time of his marriage and I have yet to find a birth record for any children. I believe this Annie Reilly nee Fitzpatrick died prior to 1912 as Hugh was known to be a widower around that time.
The Reilly family of Cranaghan consisted of the parents Charles Reilly and Mary Reilly,
Francis bapt. 30 Jun 1839, witnessed by James Maguire and Elizabeth Reilly
Bernard bapt. 18 Aug 1841 witnessed by Hugh Mc Donald and Rose Brady
Hugh bapt. 29 Nov 1846 witnessed by John Reilly and Catherine Dolan
Unknown Reilly bapt. 23 Aug 1852 witnessed by James Camble and Rose Magaghran
Charles Reilly bapt. 12 Jun 1854 witnessed by James Maguire and Margaret Dolan
Does anyone have knowledge of any part of this group of people as I am trying to determine if Hugh Reilly b. 1846 in Cranaghan, is actually the brother of my Francis b. 1839 who lived and died in Ballyconnell, 1.5 miles away.
Out of many pairings of the numerous names of Francis and of course Hugh, combined with the widely know and used, Reilly. From 1100 individuals in Co Cavan to 225 in the general area to 9 in a Parish to 1 set in a family. This pair, who ARE brothers, both ages fell into a three month window at time of death and lived 1.5 miles away from the known residence of my Francis. What are the odds?
