Hi Again Dave Well, you got the right James Ling living at St Saviour, he was indeed my Great grandfather. His son Edward was my mother's father. So, I have that info already, heck, I've even got a photo of the Peabody Building that they lived in sent to me by a lady in Croydon who is also descended from the Lings. BUT, you have indirectly resurrected my search ! When you wrote "If they were married in England" I thought, come off it, they marry in Ireland then come over here. Well, just for a laugh, I had a look on Ancestry Com. & damn, damn, damn, they were married in Pancras in 1858! For the past hour, I've been walking around my flat banging my head against the walls. With the marriage cert. I will have the name of James Ling's father, & also the name of his wife's father, & maybe some bonus info.No more chasing phantoms ! That's how efficient I am at genealogy, I assume things, a fatal mistake indeed. So, once again Mr Boylan, I am indebted to you for waking me up. I may only go back another generation, but consider this a big breakthrough. For sure, you have my best wishes for a great new year.
