Hello again Robert, wow what a lot of information. I'm not sure if our Delaney's do connect but I expect that somewhere along the way the might do so I'm going to copy some information from my famhist spreadsheet for you, just in case any of it is of interest. Unfortunately, this is all my own doing from trips and research so it might seem quite untidy to you.
DELANEY - Ireland to REID - Liverpool (on my Dad's side)
Jeremiah DELANEY b. 1840 Ballinakill, Laoighis, d. abt. 1909 West Derby, Liverpool. married Mary (Nolan?) b. 1850 Ireland
their children - Jeremiah b. 1872 Liverpool, Christina (our grandmother) b. May 1874 Liverpool d. Liverpool 1936 Mary b. 1880 Liverpool
Jeremiah Delaney senior b. 1840 worked on the 'cattle boats' between Dublin and Liverpool then as a docker when they came to live in Liverpool.
He had an accident one day when and anchor grazed his spine and he was bedridden for a couple of years with a twisted spine!
We believe his son Jeremiah was a war hero in the boer war but I cant find any information on that - yet! Dad told us he had dysentry, was very ill and died!
His daughter, Christina b.1874 married Christopher William Reid b. 1872 Liverpool. He was a seafaring man
Mary, the younger daughter b. 1880, married a Michael Byrne in Liverpool
Robert, I have quite a bit of info on them, such as addresses for them in Liverpool and I don't think it'll all fit into this so send me your email address and I'll email you the information over.
Also, have you any connections with Charles and Mary Lucas both born Ireland and living in Liverpool in 1881?
My grandfather Christopher William Reid b. 1872 (son of Christina Delaney) was living with them in 1881 census with no sign of either of his parents!
