They must be brothers or cousins. "My" John born @1795 (from census' age 1850 in USA. )In Edentenny, a townland just a couple of miles from Ballinamore , according to an old family Bible. Butitsaid just what I quoted in my Message. Just that he left Ireland and landed in Maine. My Mother, in her 90s, said that she thought he may have had a wife in Ireland. ?We know hemarries Sarah Jones in Allegheny (Pittsburgh) Ohio in home of John Hazelton in 1823. They have 8 children. They are: Edward Hazelton 1824, Beaver . Penn, William,1826, Columbiana, Ohio, John 1828, Youngstown, Trumball cty, Ohio, Susan,1831 Hubbard, Trumball cty., Ohio (died young).Margaret, 1833, Coitsville, Trumball cty., Ohio.Thomas, 1835 Coitsville, Trumball cty. Charles,1838 Coitsville, Trumball Cty, Robert 1840, Mt Pleasant, Jackson cty , Ohio. 1850 census he is listed stone mason, age 55 Eldest son,Edward was my GGGrandfather. My husband and I traveled to Ireland Sept 2001. We visited Ballinamore just after 9/11. When I visited the Heritage center to look up my "Irish " ancestor based on that bible inscription I discovered that the Researcher thought we were" English". So I paid $50 (US) for an investigation by the Leitrim Genealogical Center in Ballinamore. When it arrived in California some weeks later there was only a bitof information such as anyone can find on internet. We decided it was not worth the additional$150.00 we were askedtosubmit for a print out of the data and a map. The report stated :“Edentennywas not an official town land name and by 1857 wasknown as Killaneen. The Parish is Outeragh.(Outeragh) ,Barony of Carrigallen , CountyLeitrim, Province of Conaught .”According to the researcher The Moores were a Church of Ireland family.(protestant).Griffith’s evaluation of 1833 said Edentinney townland was therewith families of Thomas moore and Hugh moore.I don't know if they are related to our Moores .. So now it looks like the Lady in Ballinamoore was right. I do vaguely remember my Grandfather James P Moore in the 1940sonce saying he was "Norman English" but I was so little I'd forgotten it until Ballinamore. I will try to leave my email on yours so we can continue this off line.I want to read the family Records.I hope this helps future Moore reseachers.
