Samuel Evans b. abt 1770 (farmer) Elizabeth Millar b. abt 1770
Their son Adam Evans b. 1795 married Leah McEwen b 1796 (also from Ireland) and they emigrated to Scotland before 1841.
Their two known children, Elizabeth & Mary were probably born in Midlothian, Scotland in 1827 & 1831 respectively. Given that both daughters were married in the Church of Scotland, I am assuming that they were Protestants. Mary was married to a Robert McKie, whose place of birth is recorded as: Lunwick, Ireland in the 1841 census.I wonder if that could be a corruption of Limerick?
I posted this message in this forum because I have read that the surname Millar could indicate Palatine roots, and that the Palatine community was well established in the Limerick area.
I would love to know: 1. your thoughts on the likelihood of there being any Palatine connection 2.What kind of records exist for the Palatines & how to access them?
