Hello all, I just thought I'd post my Irish interests in case anyone else here happens to be researching the same families. I have a Thomas Brown and Maria Henderson who married in Bolton, Lancashire, England on 29th August 1852.Maria's father was a John Henderson, occupation given as a Pensioner, Thomas's father was a Robert Brown, a Tailor.I think that Maria was about 17 when she married and Thomas about 19.They married in the Parish Church in the town. I first encounter the family in England on the 1851 census when Maria and her mother, Margaret (aged 40) and Maria's siblings are listed as visitors at another Irish household in Bolton.I wonder if that indicates that they were newly arrived over from Ireland at that time. I have no sign of Thomas on the 1851 census in Bolton, so possibly he's still in Ireland at that point. By 1861, Maria and Thomas have his parents, Robert and Elizabeth living with them. I can trace the Browns living in Bolton on each census up to 1901.I think my bigger challenge is going to be trying to trace them back to Ireland because right now I'm feeling rather daunted at that prospect. Oh, Maria had a younger sister called Rebecca who married another Irishman living in Bolton, a John (or James) Anderson and they had a daughter called Margaret.
