I have just recently found out from a related family history that my g-grandfather (possibly) hailed from Kilkenny, Roscommon.
I at first glance took the Kilkenny, Roscommon to be in error, since I couldn't find a Kilkenny Townland in County Roscommon in my atlas at home.
However, according to leitrim-roscommon.com, Kilkenny was a viable townland in the Athlone Barony, (Parish Taghmaconnell) for the 1851 census. (This time frame fits with my ggrandfather's birth)
Aside from this mention, I can't find any information on Kilkenn, County Roscommon at all!Researching Kilkenny, Roscommon through search engines has been virtually impossible since all searches I do lead me to web pages dealing with County Kilkenny and County Roscommon.... interesting, but not quite what I am after.
Does anyone have any information on this townland, or can anyone direct me to a resource that would have information about whether or not this Townland still exists, or has changed its name?
